South of Salisbury

The weather at the moment is superb so we managed a day out in the countryside.

St. Leonard's Church, Whitsbury is set behind the village and has lovely views over the countryside. Whitsbury is well known for its stables. Trainer David Elsworth came to Whitsbury in 1981. One of his winners was Desert Orchid.

Countryside viewed from within an open sided barn.

A poppy - I liked this one.

Alderholt Mill - this mill is usually open for viewing at the weekends.

Hot Weather

With all this very good weather we have been doing work around the house. I have been painting the easy bits inside and out in preparation for the professional painter who is doing the difficult bits. Hence very little progress on the blog because reading about drying paint must be as bad as watching it dry.
Sue and I had an away day on Friday to do a couple of geocaches, some geograph squares and to have a picnic.
It was a lovely day and we were only a few miles north of Ringwood.

The view towards Godshill Inclosure.

Picnicking at Castle Hill, the Avon Valley and Breamore House are in the background.

On Sunday I went for a cycle ride before it became too hot and came across this old granary store at Manor Farm, Verwood. The store stands on stone mushrooms, called staddles, to stop the rats getting to the grain.
