Portsmouth Mob visits Ringwood

We had a visit by our friends from Portsmouth. As can be seen from the photos there was lots to eat and drink. We had plenty of catching up to do since everyone had recently come back from far flung places. Needless to say we were also planning other ventures.

Sue, Roy (he's always happy with a glass of wine in front of him) and Joy (girl Friday - she was shipwrecked recently in OZ)

Glyn (he's always happy with Baked Beans in front of him), Sybil and Geoff

Kingston Lacy

On Friday we went to Kingston Lacy, a National Trust property on the outskirts of Wimborne Minster. This year they have replaced the restored ceiling painting by Guido Reni. It is quite superb. Click here if you want to know more about it. The house and gardens are well worth a visit if you are in the area.

RSS Feed

Hi - I have just added an RSS feed for those of you who know what it is. You will find the symbol for it just above the Blogger sign in the side bar. Hope you use it. The next bit is 'lifted' from the internet.

What is RSS?

RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the "recent changes" page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checkins, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way.

Easter Visitors

Andy, Maggie and Tara, the labrador came for Easter weekend. It was great to see them and as usual we had plenty of walks. Unfortunately the Saturday afternoon was overcast and the walk unreccied so it was interesting rather than eventful. Sue unfortunately lost her necklace, this was only discovered on our return home.
In the evenings we caught up on all the gossip and showed lots of photos of recent hols.
We had a look at Tara's blog site which is being run by her weekday custodians, this can be seen at - click here

Podcast Information

It's only taken two days to get the podcast sorted and I'm still not sure that I am setting it up the correct way. My Webuser magazine says that it takes minutes to set it up - I wish!!!!!
All the software is free, but you have to integrate one with the other and at the latest count I am/will be using 4 different software packages.
Anyway I'll sleep peacefully tonight.
Don't hold your breath for the next podcast, I don't think I can find the time for it.
Happy Easter everyone!!!!

Podcast

As the weather is lousy this afternoon I thought that I would emulate the BBC by producing a podcast. Don't hold your breath it is only a few words and it is far more difficult to produce than you think.

Anyway here (hear!) goes - click here

Chew Valley, Somerset

This is the River Severn after the bore, not much room left before flooding over the levee.

This is the Severn Bore on its way. All I could see was this wall of water coming around the corner. There was no wave with the bore and therefore no wave riders. You can see a little splashing on the other side of the river (if you look hard enough). The river level rose about 8 feet as the bore arrived. Sue and I did a runner so we didn't get wet, others were not as fortunate.

The two photos below were taken in Wells. The first is of the roof at St. Cuthberts and the second is of the Vicars Close just behind the cathedral.

Sue and I have been away with the caravan to Somerset. The main reason for going was to see the Severn Bore, this was to be a 4 star (5 is the highest). There were no 4 stars last year.
We stayed at Bath Chew Valley Caravan Site where we stayed 4 years ago. It is a good position to visit friends and to get to the Bore.
